(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The fourth-ranked Thomas More University women's basketball team defeated the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.), 79-50, tonight (Thursday, February 4, 2021) in a Mid-South Conference game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
- Thomas More raced out to a 27-14 lead after the first quarter.
- The two teams played an even second quarter as they each scored 13 points and the Saints took a 40-27 at halftime.
- Thomas More shot 53.3 percent (16-of-30) from the field in the first half.
- Sophomore guard Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) led Saints in the opening 20 minutes as she had nine points, four assists and two rebounds.
- Graduate forward Alexah Chrisman (Greendale, Ind./McAuley (Ohio)) added eight points.
- Senior guard Briana McNutt (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) had seven points and six rebounds
- Thomas More out-scored Cumberlands 22-14 in the third quarter to extend the lead to 62-41 after three quarters.
- The Saints had a 17-9 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter to cruise to the 79-50 victory.
- Thomas More shot 38.9 percent (14-of-36) from the field in the second half.
- Hurst scored nine points in the second half.
- Sophomore guard Sumer Secrist (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott) tallied eight points in the closing 20 minutes.
- Thomas More improves to 20-1 overall and 15-1 in the Mid-South.
- The Patriots fall to 12-4 overall and 8-4 in the Mid-South.
- Thomas More shot 45.5 percent (30-of-66) from the field in the game.
- The Saints out-scored the Patriots 36-18 from the bench and 9-4 on second chance points.
- Hurst finished with a game-high 18 points, while dishing out four assists and pulling down four rebounds.
- Chrisman finished with 12 points, two rebounds and one blocked shot.
- Secrist had nine points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
- Junior guard Taylor Clos (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) tallied eight points, three assists, three steals and three rebounds.
- McNutt had seven points, pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds, had two steals and had an assist.
- The Saints will return to action on Saturday (February 6) when they travel to Pikeville, Kentucky to take on the University of Pikeville at 1:30 p.m.
