Georgetown, Ky. - The football program at Thomas More fell to #20 ranked Tigers of Georgetown College by a score of 27-17. With the loss the Saints drop to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in Mid-South Conference play.
- It was Thomas More who would take the early lead as senior kicker Alexander Haley (Lebanon, Ohio / Lebanon) drove home a 34 yard field goal to give the Saints an early 3-0 lead.
- Jalen Lumpkin who get Georgetown on the board with a two yard run with four minutes remaining in the first quarter and a Tiger lead of 7-3.
- Thomas More once again took the lead as junior running back Maleek Jarrett (Hamilton, Ohio / Hamilton) ran one in from two yards out and Haley converted the extra point for a 10-7 lead in favor of the Saints.
- With eight minutes left in the half Aaron Maggard would find Dylan Hughes on a 42 yard pass for the Tigers which would give them a 14-10 lead heading into the half.
- With 35 seconds remaining in the third that would grow Georgetown's lead to 17-10.
- Hughes would once again find the endzone for the Tigers this time on a 73 yard bomb from Brandon Burgess to increase the lead to 24-10.
- Thomas More would find the pylon one more time, this time Rae'Von Vaden (Louisville, Ky. / Marion C. Moore) found junior wideout Roques Dowdy (Athens, Ga. / Oconee County) on a 29 yard dot to cut the lead to 24-17.
- Georgetown put the nail in the coffin with 2:21 remaining in the game on a 26 yard field goal by Joshua Edwards to bring the final to 27-17.
- The Saints converted seven of 13 third downs for a conversion rate of 54%.
- Senior linebacker Peyton Van Horn (Hebron, Ky./Conner) led the team in tackles recording 15 with half a sack and a fumble recovery.
- Junior Del Thomas (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) tallied 10 total tackles with half a sack.
- Dowdy led the team in receiving with 80 yards on four receptions.
- Sophomore Elgin Phillips (Hamilton, Ohio. Fairfield) Averaged 46.5 yards per punt.
- First-year Freddie Johnson (Cincinnati, Ohio / Colerain) had a return average of 31.6 yards on five attempts.
The football team will return to Republic Bank Field for their next contest on October 30, when they take on Cumberland (Tenn.) at 7 p.m. ET, tailgating will open up at 3 p.m.
