Box Score 2 (PULASKI, Tenn.) – The Thomas More University baseball dropped both games of a doubleheader today (Saturday, February 15, 2020) to Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tennessee. Martin Methodist won game one, 10-9, and the nightcap, 7-2.
GAME 1
- Thomas More scored five in the third, three in the sixth and one in the ninth and Martin Methodist plated one in the third, two in the fourth, three in the sixth and three in the seventh for the 10-9 win.
- Sophomore third baseman Bailey Martin (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) was three-for-six with a home run, two runs scored and two runs batted-in.
- Junior center fielder Tyler Flick (Okeana, Ohio/Ross) was two-for-four with a double, a run scored and a RBI.
- Senior Mitchell Morris (Rising Sun, Ind./Rising Sun) had a no decision as he pitched five innings giving up four runs (all earned) on seven hits.
- Sophomore pitcher Luke Dougherty (Oxford, Ohio/Talawanda) suffered the loss as he pitched one and a third innings and gave up five runs (all earned) on four hits.
- Junior pitcher Drew Schramm (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) pitched one and two-third innings and gave up one run (earned) on two hits.
GAME 2
- Thomas More scored one in the second and one in the sixth, while Martin Methodist plated four in the third, one in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth.
- Flick was two-for-four.
- Junior first baseman Nick Moore (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oakdale (Calif.)) was two-for-four with a run scored.
- Senior pitcher Griffin Smallwood (Lakeside Park, Ky./Dixie Heights) suffered the loss as he pitched six innings giving up seven runs on eight hits, while striking out three.
- The Saints will close out the three-game series with the Red Hawks tomorrow at 2 p.m. Eastern/1 p.m. Central.
