Box Score 2 (GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.) — After winning two matches in five-sets on the first day of the Thomas More Invitational last night, the Thomas More University men's volleyball team was swept twice today (February 1, 2020), first by Siena Heights University and then by Cumberland University, to finish the tournament 2-2.
The Saints fell to 3-3 overall with the two defeats.
SIENA HEIGHTS MATCH
- Thomas More lost the match by the scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-16.
- First-year outside hitter Chris Carlson (Manila Phiulippines/Brent International School) had eight kills, seven digs and two blocks.
- First-year middle blocker Jacob Wehrman (Milford, Ohio/Milford) had five kills and three blocks.
- First-year defensive specialist Jonathan Litzler (Edgewood, Ky./St. Henry) finished with nine digs.
- Sophomore setter Tanner Miller (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) had 15 assists, two kills, six digs and one service ace.
CUMBERLAND MATCH
- Thomas More was defeated by the scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-19.
- Miller had 13 assists and six digs.
- Litzler tied for the team lead with six digs and added two service aces.
- Carlson had a team-high four kills and two total blocks.
- Thomas More will remain home for a Mid-South Conference match against Bluefield College on Thursday (February 6) at 6 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
