Box Score (Crestview Hills, Ky.) - The Thomas More men's basketball program lost for the first time during the 2020-21 campaign by a score of 68-65 to Pikeville. With the loss TMU drops to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
- Redshirt junior Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) would get the scoring started for the Saints with only 16 seconds ran off of the clock making the score 2-0.
- Sophomore Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) would get his big night started by scoring 11 points in the first 8 minutes making the score 17-10 TMU with 12:17 left in the first half.
- Following a run by Upike, sophomore TJ Deere (Union, Ky./Cooper) made a three-pointer to make the lead 21-20 in favor of the Bears with 8 minutes left in the half.
- Jolly would score 7 straight for Thomas More pushing them to a 33-29 lead heading into the half.
- Batte and Jolly would score the first 19 points of the second half for the Saints, giving them a 52-46 lead with 10:50 remaining in the game.
- Senior Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) would make a free throw with 9:50 on the clock to put TMU up 5 with 9:50 left in the game.
- Sophomore Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) made a layup with 7:46 remaining to give Thomas More an 8 point lead.
- Junior Logan Swackhammer (Chillicothe, Ohio/Unioto) made a three-pointer with 11 seconds remaining to bring the Saints back within 2; However Thomas More would fall 68-65 as a last second attempt was unsuccessful.
- Jolly led all scorers with 31 points and had 2 blocks
- Batte and Deere had 11 and 9 points respectively
Following today's game Thomas More men's basketball will travel to Williamsburg, Kentucky to take on University of the Cumberlands on Saturday January 2, tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. ET.
