Box Score 2 (GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.) – The Thomas More University women's volleyball team went 1-1 today (Friday, September 6, 2019) on the first day of the Aquinas/Cornerstone Invitational at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Saints defeated 16th-ranked Aquinas College 3-2, but fell 3-1 to Indiana Wesleyan University.
AQUINAS MATCH
- The Saints defeated the 16th-ranked team 26-24, 25-22, 20-25, 21-25 and 15-12.
- Sophomore outside hitter Emily Mohs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) tallied 21 kills.
- Senior middle hitter Jenna Mummert (Batavia, Ohio/Clermont Northeastern) had 13 kills and six blocks.
- Junior setter Madison Read (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) paced the offense with 25 assists and added five service aces.
- Sophomore setter Lizie Schoenfeld (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) finished with 18 assists and 12 digs.
- Junior defensive specialist Jessica Ginn (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led the defense with 22 digs.
- Senior outside hitter Madison Krumpelman (Crestview Hills, Ky./Holy Cross) had 19 digs.
INDIANA WESLEYAN MATCH
- Thomas More fell to Indiana Wesleyan by the scores of 25-21, 25-20, 16-25 and 25-20.
- Mummert hit .565 with 14 kills and two service aces.
- Mohs finished the match with 12 kills.
- Krumpelman had 11 kills and 14 digs.
- Ginn led the defense with 21 digs.
- Read paced the offense with 25 assists.
- Schoenfeld added 23 assists.
- Thomas More will close out the Aquinas/Cornerstone Invitational tomorrow when it moves to the Hansen Athletic Center on the campus of Cornerstone University.
- The Saints will play 24th-ranked Marian (Ind.) University at 11 a.m. and Cornerstone at 1 p.m.
