Thomas More Falls on the Road at UW-Platteville

(PLATTEVILLE, Wis.) – The Thomas More University football team fell, 41-10, to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville today (Saturday, September 21, 2019) at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium in Platteville, Wisconsin.

  • The Pioneers took a 7-0 lead with 8:39 to play in the opening quarter when Colin Schuetz scored on a four-yard run and Andrew Schweigert added the pointer-after attempt.
  • Schuetz connected on an eight-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Hanson and Schweigert added the PAT to increase the lead to 14-0 with 2:42 to play in the quarter.

  • UW-Platteville made the score 21-0 when Schuetz threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Donald Allender and Schweigert added the PAT with 6:36 to play in the second quarter.
  • Wyatt Thompson scored on a 36-yard run and Schweigert added the PAT with 3:50 to play in the quarter to give the Pioneers at 28-0 lead.
  • With 30-seconds to play in the first half, Tyler Knigge caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Schuetz and the PAT failed as the Pioneers led 34-0 at halftime.

  • Thomas More cut the lead to 34-7 with 11:55 to play in the third quarter when senior quarter back Justin Post (Macedonia, Ohio/Nordonia) connected on a 17-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Da'marco Canty (Bogart, Ga./North Oconee) and sophomore kicker Alexander Haley (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) added the PAT.
  • UW-Platteville made the score 41-7 when Allender scored on a two-yard run and Schweigert added the PAT.

  • Haley made the score 41-10 with 6:40 to play in the game when he made a 29-yard field goal.

  • The Saints fall to 1-3 on the season, while the Pioneers improve to 2-0.
  • Thomas More 297 yards of total offense (51 rushing/246 passing) to 362 yards (134 rushing/228 passing) by the Pioneers.
  • Post was 18-of-34 passing for 221 yards and a touchdown.
  • Junior running back Monalo Caldwell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) had 16 carries for 28 yards.
  • Canty finished the game with five catches for 66 yard and a touchdown.
  • Senior wide receiver Mitchell Hogue (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison) had four catches for 48 yards.
  • Sophomore linebacker Peyton Van Horn (Hebron, Ky./Connor) had six tackles (five solo/one assisted) to lead the defense.
  • First-year safety Dalton Adkins (Huntington, W.Va./Raceland (Ky.)) had five tackles (all solo), including one tackle for a loss.
  • Senior linebacker Cody Coffey (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) had five tackles (all solo).

  • Thomas More returns to action next Saturday (September, 28) when it travels to Cincinnati, Ohio to play across-the-river rival Cincinnati Christian University.
  • Kick-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Willard R. Stargel Stadium.
