Box Score (HANOVER, Ind.) – The 17th-ranked Thomas More College women's soccer team defeated traditional rival Hanover College, 2-1, in overtime tonight (Wednesday, September 16, 2015) in a non-conference match in Hanover, Indiana.
With the win, the Saints remain unbeaten at 4-0-1 and with the loss, the Panthers fall to 4-2.
Hanover took an early lead when Katie Workman scored off an Elaine Simpson assist at the 22:28 mark. Thomas More tied the match at the 30:88 mark when senior forward Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) headed in a ball off a cross from junior midfielder Erika LaRosa (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton).
In overtime, sophomore forward Abby Stadtmiller (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) scored the game-winning goal at the 97:22 mark.
Junior goalkeeper Megan Barton (Florence, Ky./Villa Madonna) earned the win as she played all 97:22 in goal and recorded nine saves, while allowing one goal.
Thomas More out-shot Hanover, 20-17, but the teams were even in shots-on-goal at 10. Hanover held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Saints are idle until September 24 when they travel to Lexington, Kentucky to play in-state rival Transylvania University at 6 p.m.
