Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The 13th-ranked Thomas More College women's soccer team scored seven goals in the first 24 minutes today (Tuesday, October 6, 2015) as it defeated Waynesburg University, 9-0, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 9-0-1 overall and 2-0 in the PAC and with the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the PAC.
Sophomore forward Julia Flagge-Echols (Colearin, Ohio/Colerain) gave the Saints a 1-0 lead at the 2:28 mark when she scored off an assist from junior midfielder Taylor Robinson (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County). The Saints increased the lead to 2-0 at the 9:17 mark when senior forward Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) find the back of the net off a cross from sophomore forward Abby Stadtmiller (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart). Flagge-Echols scored her second goal of the match at the 13:40 mark off a Huber assist to increase the lead to 3-0. The lead grew to 4-0 at the 16:01 mark when Huber scored unassisted. Junior midfielder Laura Felix (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) extended the lead to 5-0 when she scored unassisted at the 17:11 mark. Flagge-Echols scored her third goal of the match at the 21:13 mark off an assist from junior midfielder Lauren Rose (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) to increase the lead to 6-0. Huber closed out the scoring in the first half with a goal at the 23:08 mark to make the score 7-0 at halftime.
Thomas More extended the lead to 8-0 at the 76:33 mark when sophomore defender Brandi Hunter (Lynchburg, Ohio/Lynchburg-Clay) scored unassisted. The Saints closed out the scoring at the 82:02 mark when junior midfielder Erika LaRosa (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) scored off an assist from sophomore midfielder Ally Wimmers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West) for the final score of 9-0.
Junior goalkeeper Megan Barton (Florence, Ky./Villa Madonna) played the first half in goal and recorded one save. Sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Polster (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) played the final 90 minutes in goal and didn't face a shot.
Thomas More out-shot Waynesburg, 22-2, including 15-1 on-goal and won the battle of corner kicks, 12-0.
The Saints return to action on Sunday (October 11) when they host Chatham University at 12 p.m. at BB&T Field.
