Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team defeated Westminster College, 3-2, today (Saturday, November 2, 2013) on Senior Day at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The Saints won the match by the scores of 25-19, 22-25, 25-17, 9-25 and 17-15.
With the win, the Saints finish the regular season at 21-5 overall and 15-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). With the loss, the Titans fall to 25-8 overall and 12-6 in the PAC. Thomas More will be either the No. 2 or 3 seed in next week's PAC Tournament and Westminster will be the No. 4 seed. The tournament brackets will be released late tonight or early tomorrow morning on the PAC website at www.pacathletics.org.
Thomas More's offensive attack was led by sophomore outside hitter Stacy Howell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este) with 13 kills and junior outside hitter Felicity Britt (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) with 10 kills. Junior defensive specialist Kelsey Catiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) led the team with five service aces, while freshman defensive specialist Tara Melzer (Ross, Ohio/Ross) had four service aces and junior outside hitter Holly Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the team in assists with 39.
Three Saints had double-digit digs on the defensive end as senior defensive specialist Brittany Rohrkasse (Mason, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) had match-high 25, Castiglioni had 14 and freshman outside hitter Sydney Bragg (Huron, Ohio/Huron) had 13.
Prior to the match, Rohrkasse and senior middle hitter Tyler Deaton (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) were honored as they were playing their final regular season home match at the Connor Convocation Center.
