Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The 14th-ranked Thomas More College women's soccer team defeated 24th-ranked Hanover College, 1-0, today (Sunday, November 17, 2013) in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 19-1-2 and advance to play either 16th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater or Capital University in the sectional semifinals of the NCAA Championship. The match date, time and location will be announced on the NCAA's Championship website (www.ncaa.com) later tonight or tomorrow morning. With the loss, the Panthers end the season at 18-2-2.
Senior midfielder Kirstie Reilman (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) scored the lone goal of the match at the 7:22 mark off a corner kick by senior midfielder Emily Sanker (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart).
Freshman goalkeeper Megan Barton (Florence, Ky./Villa Madonna) played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves in the shutout.
Thomas More out-shot Hanover, 17-5, including 8-3 on-goal and won the battle of corner kicks, 9-1.
