Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The top-seeded Thomas More College men's soccer team won its fifth straight Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament today (Sunday, November 10, 2013) as it defeated second-seeded Washington & Jefferson College, 1-0, in the championship match of the tournament at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 15-2-2 and earn the PAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The tournament field and brackets for the NCAA Championship will be released on the NCAA championship website (www.ncaa.com) at 1 p.m. on Monday (November 11). With the loss, the Presidents fall to 10-7-3 overall.
Both teams couldn't find the net and the match was tied at 0-0 at halftime.
58-seconds into the second half freshman forward Brian Ruyon (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) scored the lone goal of the match off an assist from junior defender Alex Dean (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) at the 45:58 mark.
Junior goalkeeper Matt Kees (Covington, Ky./Scott) earned the shutout as he played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded five saves.
Thomas More out-shot the Presidents, 10-7, including 6-5 on-goal and won the battle of corner kicks, 2-1.
