Box Score 2 (GROVE CITY, Pa.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team won two matches today (Saturday, October 19, 2013) in Western Pennsylvania as it defeated Waynesburg University, 3-1, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania and defeated Grove City College, 3-1, in Grove City, Pennsylvania.
With the sweep the Saints improve to 17-4 overall and 11-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).
Thomas More defeated Waynesburg in the first match of the day by the scores of 25-20, 24-26, 25-14 and 25-10.  The Saints offense was led by sophomore outside hitter Stacy Howell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Glen Este) with 15 kills.  Freshman middle hitter Marisa Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) added 11 kills and junior outside hitter Felicity Britt (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) finished with seven kills.  Junior outside hitter Holly Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the team in assists with 27 and senior defensive specialist Brittany Rohrkasse (Mason, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the team in service aces with two.
Four Saints finished with double digit digs as junior defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse) had 19, freshman outside hitter Sydney Bragg (Huron, Ohio/Huron) had 16, freshman defensive specialist Tara Melzer (Ross, Ohio/Ross) had 15 and Rohrkasse had 12.  Junior middle hitter Tyler Deaton (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) led the team in block with three.
In the second match of the day, the Saints defeated Grove City by the scores of 23-25, 25-16, 25-22 and 25-17.  Sophomore middle hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) and Howell led team in kills with 12 each, while Meyer added nine.  Bronner led the team in assists with 35.
Defensively, the Saints were led by Castiglioni with 34 digs and Melzer with 16 digs.
The Saints return to the court tomorrow as they will play Washington & Jefferson College at 12 p.m. at the Henry Memorial Center in Washington, Pennsylvania.
