Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Sophomore forward Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) recorded her second straight hat trick and the 21st-ranked Thomas More College women's soccer team defeated Waynesburg University, 6-0, today (Saturday, October 19, 2013) on Senior Day at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 11-1-2 overall and 5-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC). With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 6-7 overall and 3-2 in the PAC.
At halftime the Saints honored seniors Courtney Clark (Burlington, Ky./Notre Dame Academy), Kirstie Reilman (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) and Emily Sanker (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart), who were playing their final weekend regular season match at The Bank of Kentucky Field.
Huber opened the scoring at the 14:33 mark when she scored unassisted to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. Huber scored her second goal of the match off an assist from Clark at the 19:52 to extend the Saints' lead to 2-0. Huber completed her hat trick at the 24:30 mark when she found the back of the net off a double assist from Reilman and Clark to give Thomas More a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Thomas More extended the lead to 4-0 when Clark scored unassisted at the 55:04 mark. Clark scored her second goal of the match at the 60:38 mark off a Huber assist and the Saints led 5-0. The Saints closed out the scoring at the 86:53 mark when Reilman scored on a penalty kick for the final score of 6-0.
Freshmen goalkeepers Megan Barton (Florence, Ky./Villa Madonna) and Christy Smith (Washington Courthouse, Ohio/Washington) split time in goal to combine for the shutout. Barton played the first 45 minutes and recorded one save and Smith played the final 45 minutes and recorded one save.
Thomas More out-shot the Yellow Jackets, 29-2, including 10-2 on-goal and won the battle of corner kicks, 14-1.
Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (October 23) when it hosts PAC rival Washington & Jefferson College at 4 p.m. at The Bank of Kentucky Field.
