Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College men's soccer team defeated John Carroll University, 2-1, today (Friday, August 31, 2012) in both teams' season opener at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 1-0, and with the loss, the Blue Streaks fall to 0-1.
John Carroll took a 1-0 lead at the 50:23 mark on a Thor Erikson goal. The Saints tied the game at 1-1 at the 62:29 mark when sophomore Christopher Lehan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) scored off a cross from sophomore midfielder Jake Plummer (North Olmsted, Ohio/Corpus Christy Academy).
Senior midfielder Andrew Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) scored the eventual game winner on a penalty kick at the 74:36 mark.
Sophomore Matt Kees (Covington, Ky./Scott) earned the win in goal as he gave up one goal and recorded seven saves.
John Carroll out-shot the Saints, 23-7, and won the battle of corner kicks, 7-5.
Thomas More returns to action on Sunday (September 2) when it travel to Hanover, Indiana for a 1 p.m. non-conference match with Hanover College.
