Box Score 2 (BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team remained undefeated in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) as it defeated Geneva College, 3-1, and Grove City College, 3-0, in a PAC tri-match today (Saturday, October 6, 2012) in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.
With the sweep, the Saints improve to 16-4 overall and 9-0 in the PAC.
Thomas More defeated Geneva by the scores of 25-19, 19-25, 25-17 and 25-19. The Saints had three players with double-digit kills in the match as sophomore outside hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) with 18, senior outside hitter Hanna Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) with 16 and sophomore outside hitter Felicity Britt (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) with 11. Senior setter Tori Verville (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross) finished with 55 assist in the match.
Defensively, five Saints had double-digit digs as sophomore defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) had 24, Verville and junior defensive specialist Brittany Rohrkasse (Mason, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) each had 16, sophomore defensive specialist Christina Brackett-Newport (Louisville, Ky./Senecca) had 14 and Cronin had 12.
The Saints defeated Grove City by the scores of 25-14, 25-17 and 25-18. Lietz, Britt and Cronin led the team in kills with seven each, while Verville had 31 assists and freshman setter Natalie Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had 13 assists.
Thomas More's defensive effort was led by Castiglioni with 23 digs and Brackett-Newport with nine digs.
The Saints return to action on Thursday (October 11) when they travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to play Chatham University at 7 p.m.
