Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team defeated Geneva College, 3-0, tonight (Friday, October 19, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match on Thomas More Volleyball Alumni Night at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The Saints won by the scores of 25-11, 25-11 and 25-18.
With the win, the Saints improve to 21-4 and remain undefeated in the PAC at 14-0. With the loss, the Golden Tornadoes fall to 19-9 overall and 10-5 in the PAC.
The Saints were led offensively, by sophomore outside hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) with 10 kills and junior middle hitter Tyler Deaton (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) with nine kills. Senior setter Tori Verville (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross) led the team in assists with 23, while freshman setter Natalie Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) added 12.
Sophomore defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Cruese) led Thomas More in digs with 15 and sophomore defensive specialist Christina Brackett-Newport (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) finished with nine digs. Deaton and senior outside hitter Hanna Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led the Saints' block party with three block assists each and freshman outside hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) finished one block solo and two block assists.
Thomas More returns to the court on Sunday (October 21) when it hosts Thiel College at 12 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center. It will be Senior Day on Sunday and prior to the match Thomas More will honor Hanna Lietz and Tori Verville, who will be playing their final regular season home match at the Connor Convocation Center.
