Box Score (BETHANY, W.Va.) - The Thomas More College volleyball team defeated Bethany College, 3-1, today (Saturday, October 13, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at Hummel Field House in Bethany, West Virginia. The Saints won the match by the scores of 25-18, 28-26, 22-25 and 25-23.
With the win, the Saints extend their winning streak to 16 matches and improve to 19-4 overall and 12-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Bison fall to 22-6 overall and 11-3 in the PAC.
The Saints had three players with double-digit kills as sophomore outside hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) had 17, senior outside hitter Hanna Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) had 16 and freshman outside hitter Jessica Knaley (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) had 14. Junior middle hitter Tyler Deaton (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) added nine kills, while senior setter Tori Verville (Edgewood, Ky./Holy Cross) led the team in assists with 51.
Defensively, Thomas More was led by sophomore Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) with 35 digs. Three other Saints had double-digit digs as Cronin had 17 and Verville and sophomore defensive specialist Christina Brackett-Newport (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) each had 12. Deaton finished the match with four block assists.
Thomas More returns to action on Thursday (October 18) when it hosts Grove City College at 7 p.m. in a PAC match at the Connor Convocation Center.
