Saints Fall, 2-1, to Hanover on the Road

(HANOVER, Ind.) - The Thomas More College women's soccer team fell, 2-1, to Hanover College today (Wednesday, September 21, 2011) in a non-conference match at L.S. Ayres Athletic Complex in Hanover, Indiana.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 2-3 on the season and with the win, the Panthers improve to 5-1-1.

Hanover took an early 1-0 lead when Paige Byers scored off a cross from Jennie Dumaine at the 16:02 mark.  The Saint tied the match at 1-1 when sophomore forward Courtney Clark (Burlington, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) scored on a penalty kick at the 37:29 mark.

Dumaine scored the eventual game-winning goal for the Panthers at the 79:13 mark.

Senior goalkeeper Katie Burger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) played all 90 minutes in goal and gave up two goals, while recording five saves.

Thomas More out-shot Hanover, 16-11, and won the battle of corner kicks, 6-4

The Saints are idle until Monday (September 26) when they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to play across-the-river rival, the College of Mount St. Joseph in a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
