Box Score (BLUFFTON, Ohio) - The Thomas More College women's volleyball team defeated Bluffton University, 3-2, in its final non-conference match tonight (Tuesday, September 13, 2011) at Founders Hall in Bluffton, Ohio. The Saints won by the scores of 25-22, 19-25, 25-17, 28-30 and 15-7.
With the win, the Saints improve to 4-5 on the season and with the loss, the Beavers fall to 6-3.
Junior outside hitter Hanna Lietz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) led five Saints with double-figure kills with 14. Joining her in double-figure kills were freshman outside hitter Karsen Cronin (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) and senior middle blocker Katie Sullivan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) with 13 each, sophomore middle hitter Tyler Deaton (Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic) with 12 and freshman middle hitter Connie Schulte (Ottawa, Ohio/Pandora-Gilboa) with 10. Senior setter Michelle Clifford (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led the team in assists with 48.
Defensively, freshman defensive specialist Kelsey Castiglioni (Harrison Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse) led the team with 19 digs, while freshman defensive specialist Christina Brackett (Louisville, Ky./Seneca) added 13 digs. Schulte, Deaton and Sullivan all ended the match with four total blocks.
The Saints have a quick turn-around as they open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play tomorrow (Wednesday, September 14) when they host Washington & Jefferson College at 7 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
