Bill Garvey

Bill Garvey is in his first season as the Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach at Thomas More University during the 2025-2026 academic year.

Garvey comes to the Saints following a stints at Delaware State (NCAA Division I-FCS) and Bethany (NCAA Division III). At Delaware State, Garvey served as the Quarterbacks coach starting in 2022. Garvey served as head coach at NCAA DIII Bethany College (W. Va.) from 2013 to 2021 after serving as the team's offensive coordinator from 2006 to 2012. Garvey has the most career Presidents Athletic Conference wins (27) of any head coach in the history of the Bethany program.

In 2018, Bethany finished 5-5 (5-4 in the PAC), including a seven-point loss to NCAA playoff bound Washington & Jefferson College and a three-point set back against conference foe Carnegie Mellon University. Through his first five seasons as head coach of the Bison, Garvey totaled an overall record of 20-31, which included a 17-13 record against PAC opponents. In three of his first five years, the Bison posted a .500 or better record against PAC counterparts. In 2016, the offense broke multiple single-game records, with quarterback Chase Kinemond setting the single-game record for completions (39) and total offense (511) in a game at Thiel. In 2014, Garvey led the Bison to their first winning record since 2001, coaching Bethany to a 6-4 mark and a berth in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) bowl game.

As Bethany's offensive coordinator, Garvey was the architect of some of the most prolific seasons in school history. More than 80 school records were reset or tied in Garvey's tenure; including eight in 2015. Quarterback Lincoln Reyes broke the single-season touchdown passes record (24), while Eric Blinn broke the receiving touchdown mark (14) and Jalen Holmes with the rushing touchdown record (15). Garvey's offense helped Holmes achieve the best rushing season of any Bison in school history, as he shattered the marks for rushing touchdowns, rushing yards (1,353) and set the single-game, Bethany and PAC, mark for yardage (341). In 2013, the Bison boasted the most prolific passing offense in the conference; averaging a league best 311.9 yards per game through the air. Quarterback Matt Grimard and Blinn also shattered Bison record books. Grimard threw for 3,100 yards and 23 touchdowns, while Blinn hauled in 95 catches for a school-record 1,300 yards and eight scores.

Among Bethany's most notable PAC awards during Garvey's tenure: PAC Defensive Player of the Year: Donavan Hayden (2016); Nadim Raddar (2014); PAC Newcomer of the Year: Dadrick Vickers (2019); and 19 All-PAC First Team honorees. Prior to his years at Bethany, Garvey spent two seasons as offensive coordinator at NCAA Division II Stonehill (Mass.) College, and was an assistant at Harvard University (2000-2003), where he coached the offensive line and later wide receivers. He began his coaching career at Hofstra University as a graduate assistant (1997-99). Garvey attended Iona College in New York, where he was a three-year member of the Gaels' football team and a member of 1993 squad that captured the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference championship.

He graduated from Iona College with a degree in Business Administration in Management Information Systems. Garvey and his wife Gina have four children, Emma, Will, Jack, and Grace.
