Rotert and Webb combine for 34 points in win over Cedarville

(CEDARVILLE, Ohio) – The Thomas More University's women's basketball team defeated Cedarville on Saturday (Feb 7) by a score of 75-53. The Saints improve to 19-3 and 11-3 in conference play.
 
 

• Leonard hit a three-point shot on the opening possession of the game with an assist from Turner.
• Webb hit a second-chance layup at 8:42 and started a 11-0 run for the Saints. She added two more layups in the run putting Thomas More up 14-5 and forcing a Cedarville timeout.
• Coming out of the timeout, the Yellow Jackets had their own 11-0 run to end the first quarter leading 16-14.
• For the first half of the second quarter the teams went back and forth staying within a possession of each other.
• Out of the media timeout, the Saints held Cedarville scoreless while scoring nine points and taking a 29-21 lead into halftime. The shots came off the hands of Rotert, Webb, and Turner

 
 

• Hunt started the second half scoring with  layup to give the Saints their first double digit lead of the day.
• A late third quarter run by Tandy and Rotert pushed the lead to 51-36 and forced a Cedarville timeout.
• Tandy ended the third quarter with a buzzer beater layup to put the score 55-38 heading into the final quarter.
• Webb, Tandy, Jackson, and Turner all scored in the fourth quarter leading to a 9-0 run to push the lead out to 26.
• Rotert hit back-to-back layups win 20 seconds. The first came on a second-chance and the other off a Hunt steal and a quick Turner assist fast break.
• Turner got a steal and took it down the court for a fast break layup with just under four minutes to play to give the Saints their first 30+ point lead at 72-41.
• The Yellow Jackets scored twelve points in the final three minutes but Thomas More had secured the win.

 
  

• Izzy Rotert led all scorers with 18 points, shooting a perfect 8-8 from the floor and 2-2 at the free throw line. She also had 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists.
• Sereniti Webb had 16 points shooting 8-14 and pulled town a game-high 8 rebounds.
• Morgan Hunt and Rylee Turner each had 4 steals, accounting for over half of the team's 15 total. Turner added 11 points of her own and 8 assists.
• Desiree Tandy had 9 points and 8 rebounds and Amara Jackson added 10 points off the bench.

 
The Saints will return home as they host Walsh on Thursday (Feb 12). Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
