Women's Volleyball Picks Up First Two Wins of the Season at Lee Tri-Match

(Cleveland, TN) - The Thomas More University women's volleyball team faced off against the Emory & Henry University Wasps and the Lee University Vikings on Saturday (September 13).  The Saints defeated both the Wasps and Vikings as Thomas More now moves to 2-3 overall.

Game 1:

Thomas More defeated Emory & Henry, 3-0.

• Thomas More won the opening set 30 to 28.

• Thomas More won the second set 25 to 18.

• Thomas More won the third set 25 to 16.

• Senior Ebony Gomez (Merida, Venezuela/Colegio Salesiano San Luis) led the Saints in kills with 18.

• Senior Ebony Gomez (Merida, Venezuela/Colegio Salesiano San Luis) and Senior Matilde Giamberini (Gornate Olona, Italy/Liceo Curie) both led the team in service aces with 1 each.  

• Senior Brenna Young (Crestwood, KY/South Oldham) and Sophomore Kat Koepke (New Haven, IN/New Haven) both led the match in blocks with 4 each.

• Sophomore Audrey Warrick (Linton, IN/Linton Stockton) led the match in assists with 39.

• Sophomore Taylor Stivers (Louisville, KY/Atherton) led the Saints in digs with 15.

Game 2:

Thomas More defeated Lee, 3-2.

• Lee won the opening set 25 to 20.

• Thomas More won the second set 25 to 18.

• Lee won the third set 25 to 13.

• Thomas More won the fourth set 25 to 23.

• Thomas More won the final set 15 to 10.
   

• Senior Ebony Gomez (Merida, Venezuela/Colegio Salesiano San Luis) led the Saints in kills with 20.

• Senior Matilde Giamberini (Gornate Olona, Italy/Liceo Curie) led the team in blocks with 3.

• Sophomore Audrey Warrick (Linton, IN/Linton Stockton) led the match in assists with 36.

• Sophomore Taylor Stivers (Louisville, KY/Atherton) led the Saints in digs with 14.  She also led in service aces with 7.

• The Thomas More women's volleyball team returns to action on Wednesday (September 17) against Kentucky State University in Frankfort, KY.  The match is set for 6:00 PM.
