Baseball Falls to Walsh to Open Four Game Series

(Florence, KY) - Thomas More's baseball team lost 14-3 against Walsh University on Sunday (April 6) afternoon. The Saints record falls to 10-21 on the year and 3-10 in G-MAC play.

• Walsh scored the first two runs in the top of the first inning to take a lead of 2-0.

• Walsh added another two runs in the second inning to lead 4-0.

• In the top of the 6th inning, Walsh added insurance with five additional runs to make it 9 to 0.

• Junior Riley Poston (Lancaster, OH / Lancaster) hit a 2 RBI Double bringing the Saints closer, 9-2 at the end of the 6th inning. 

• Walsh added five more runs, making it 14-2 in the Eighth 

• First year Drew Barth (Fort Thomas, KY / Highlands) singled home junior Gunnar Kalkhoff to move the score to 14-3 in the eighth. 

• Senior AJ Eninger (Hamilton, OH / Badin) went 2-4 with a triple 

• Riley Poston also went 2-4 with 2 RBIs.

• Gunnar Kalkhoff (Cincinnati, Ohio / LaSalle) went 2-3 scoring twice and was hit by a pitch.

• Sophomore Ethan Stone (Hamilton, OH / Hamilton) pitched 2.0 innings and allowed 4 earned runs. 

• Aaron Wichmann (Burlington, KY / Conner) pitched 4.0 innings, allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 5.

• Junior Ian Bierbaum (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) went 2.0 innings, allowing 3 earned runs, striking out 3.

The Saints return to Thomas More Stadium tomorrow for games 2 and 3 of the series against Walsh. First Pitch is scheduled for 11 AM.
