Softball Swept by Ashland in Sunday Doubleheader

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's softball team fell to Ashland on Sunday afternoon (March 30) 6-0 in game one and 18-1 in game two in five innings. The Saints overall record falls to 11-15 and 1-7 in conference.


Game one:

• Ashland scored one run in the 1st, 5th, and 6th innings, and added three runs in the 7th to lead 6 to 0.

Game two:

• Ashland scored 9 runs in the first two innings to take the lead.
• Ashland added 9 more runs over the next three innings to lead 18 to 0.
• Thomas More scored in the bottom of the 5th from an RBI single from Avery Blinn.

• First year Michelle Barth (Ft. Thomas, KY / Highlands) went 1 for 2 at the dish in game two.
• First year Natalie Harris (Vandalia, OH / Vandalia Butler) recorded a hit in game two.
• Sophomore Paige Stewart (Cold Spring, KY / Campbell County) went 1 for 2 at the plate.
• Sophomore Carly Cramer (Ft. Thomas, KY / Highlands) recorded a double in her lone at-bat.
• First year Avery Blinn (Mason, OH / Mason) hit an RBI single in her lone at-bat.

Game one:

• Sophomore Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge)  pitched 7.0 innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits and striking out 2.

Game two:

• Sophomore Olivia Dumm (Williamsport, OH / Westfall) pitched 1.1 innings, allowing seven runs off eight hits.
• First year Avery Gottlieb (Ross, Ohio/Oak Hills) pitched 2.1 innings, allowing nine runs off 9 hits and striking out 2.
• Sophomore Becca LeMay (Pickerington, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) pitched 1.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and striking out one.

The Saints return on Wednesday (April, 2nd) when they travel to take on Kentucky State. First pitch is set for 4:00 PM.
