Baseball Swept by Illinois Springfield in Friday Doubleheader

(Florence, KY) - Thomas More's baseball team lost 7-4 and 7-3 to University Illinois-Springfield on Friday (February 28) afternoon. The Saints record goes to 3-4 after the Double Header. 
 

Game 1: UIS 7-4 (7 Innings) 

• Illinois-Springfield started the scoring on a 2-Run Homer to dead center 

• Illinois-Springfield added 2 more on a double and single to make it 4-0 in the 4th. 

• 2 Doubles and a single added 3 more to make it 7-0 in the 6th. 

• AJ Enginger (Hamilton, OH / Badin) Hit a Double to Left to make it 7-1 in the 6th 

• Ty Cunningham (Fairfield, OH / Fairfield) followed with a 2-Run Home Run to Left to make it 7-3. 

• In a crazy play, which required discussion, Miguel Correa Jr. scored to pull the Saints back to within 3. 

Game 2: UIS 7-3 

• UIS started the scoring with 2 in the second. 

• UIS got a 3rd in the top of the 6th. 

• Gunner Kalkhoff (Cincinnati, Ohio / LaSalle) singled to Right to score the Saints first making it 3-1 in the 6th. 

• Riley Poston (Lancaster, OH / Lancaster) drove him in on a Triple down the Right Field line. 

• UIS added 4 in the 8th with a homer and single. 

• Brady Schnierer (Columbus, OH / Olentangy Liberty) drove in Ty Cunningham to make it 7-3 in the 8th. 
   

Game 1: 

• Ty Cunningham added a Walk with his Home Run 

• AJ Enginger had a Double and went 1-4 

• Miguel Correa Jr. (Avon, IN / Avon) got on base twice with a Single and BB 

• Ben Duncan (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Bradley) started the 6th inning rally with a Double 

Game 2: 

• Ty Cunningham fell a triple shy of the cycle on the day, with a double and a single 

• Brady Schnierer and Riley Poston each had a Triple 

• Gunner Kalkhoff had a single, Run, and RBI. 

Game 1: 

• Senior Austin Dennis (Cincinnati, OH / Oak Hills) pitched 6 Innings with 4 strikeouts, allowing 7 Earned Runs 

• Sophomore Ethan Stone (Hamilton, OH / Hamilton) finished the game in the 7th pitching a perfect inning. 

Game 2: 

• Junior Jack Perdue (Louisville, KY / Christian Academy) threw 6 Innings, punching out 4, allowing 3 Earned Runs 

• Cameron Snider (Amelia, OH / Bethel-Tate) went 1.2IP with 2 strikeouts, allowing 4 Earned. 

• Ian Bierbaum (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) went 1 Shutout Inning 

• Nolan Krekeler (Loveland, OH / Moeller) got the final out on a Strikeout looking 

Next, the Saints will travel to Hammond, IN on Wednesday (March, 5th) for the first two games of a four game series with Purdue Northwest. First pitch set at 1:00 PM.
