Saints Extend Win Streak to Five With Road Victory Over Northwood

(Midland, MI)- The Thomas More University Men's Basketball team traveled to face Northwood on Saturday (January, 4th) for a conference match up. Thomas More defeated the Timberwolves by a final score of 73 to 57. Thomas More extends their win streak to five, and improves their overall record to 10-3 on the season and a G-MAC record of 5-1.

• Redshirt first year Jack McCune (Paducah, KY / McCracken County) scored the first Saint points of the day on a jumper in the paint (2-3).
• Junior Mitchell Rylee (Ft. Mitchell, KY / Covington Catholic) goes on a personal four point run to put Thomas More in front 6 to 5.
• Senior Casey George (Pickerington, OH / Pickerington North) ends a Northwood run with a bucket to cut the Timberwolves lead down to 1 with 11:37 to go in the half.
• A bucket from Mitchell Rylee, and a three pointer from redshirt first year Zion Crowe (Springfield, OH / Shawnee) pushes the Saints in front by a score of 21 to 17 with 9:49 to go in the half.
• Zion Crowe makes a jumper, then on the next possession finds Jack McCune for a bucket to make it a 25 to 21 Saint lead.
• With 7:01 to go in the half, first year Jashaun Pouncy (Erlanger, KY / Cooper) scores a bucket off an assist from junior Ryan Paris (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Davidsion) (27-23).
• With 3:36 to go, redshirt first year Kai Simpson (Lexington, KY / Frederick Douglass) makes a layup to extend the Saint lead to six.
• Simpson goes on to score the next six points in the game and pushes the lead to double figures with 42 seconds to go in the half (41-29).
• Thomas More takes the lead into half by a score of 41 to 32.
• Kai Simpson and Mitchell Rylee both led the Saints in scoring with 10 points each.
• Casey George recorded 6 points and a team high 4 rebounds in the half.
• Thomas More shot 17-29 (58.6%) from the field, 1-4 (25%) from three, and 6-8 (75%) from the free throw line in the half.

• Kai Simpson opens the second half with the first points for the Saints. He then finds Zion Crowe for a bucket to give the Saints a 45 to 32 lead.
• A pair of free throws from Mitchell Rylee stops a short Northwood run and gives Thomas More a 49 to 37 lead with 15:29 to go.
• Jack McCune knocks down a triple off an assist from Kai Simpson with 14:20 to go to push the Saint lead to 15.
• With 10:42 to go in the game, Mitchell Rylee continues a strong second half with a driving bucket to make the score 58 to 39.
• Jashaun Pouncy makes a pair of free throws with 7:13 to go, to put the Saints back up by 16.
• Mitchell Rylee converts on a pair of free throws with 4:53 to go, to make the score 64 to 49.
• A Jack McCune bucket with 2:29 to go, makes it a 70 to 53 game.
• With 1:11 to go, Mitchell Rylee finds Jack McCune for a layup and got fouled for the three point play to push it to a 20 point game.
• Thomas More makes free throws down the stretch and go on to win by a score of 73 to 57.
