Men's Basketball Falls to Malone on the Road

Box Score (CANTON, Ohio)-Thomas More University's men's basketball team fell to Malone on Saturday afternoon (January 18), 73-62 . The Saints overall record falls to 10-7 and 5-5 in conference.

• Redshirt first year Zion Crowe (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) kicked things off by draining a 3-point shot to get the Saints on the board 3-0 with 19:15 on the clock.
• Redshirt first year Jack McCune (Paducah, Ky./McCracken County) made a jump shot to help the Saints regain the lead with 16:49 remaining in the half (7-6).
• With 10:56 to play, redshirt first year Kai Simpson (Lexington, Ky./Frederick Douglass) drove to the rim for a layup to make it a 16-15 game.
• Senior Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) banged in a 3-point basket to give the Saints a 21-20 lead with 5:57 remaining.
• Senior Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington) knocked in one free throw for the final point of the half to tie things up at 33-33 going into the locker room at the half.
• Wyatt Vieth led with eight points and four rebounds in the first half.
• Casey George tallied two assists to lead the team and had five points and three rebounds.
• The Saints were 57.1% (12-21) from the field, 62.5% (5-8) from the 3-point line, and 57.1% (4-7) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Kai Simpson started off the second half with a jump shot to put the Saints up 35-33 with 19:46 to play.
• Zion Crowe made a layup with 16:37 on the clock to tie things up at 39-39.
• With 11:55 to play, junior Mitchell Rylee (Ft. Mitchell, Ky./Covington Catholic) dunked the ball to put the Saints within five (43-48).
• Mitchell Rylee made a jump shot to help the Saints regain the lead with 4:42 remaining (55-54).
• Zion Crowe made the Saints final basket of the game with a 3-point basket with 17 second left on the clock (62-72).
• The Saints would fall to the Pioneers 73-62.
• Mitchell Rylee led with eight points and three rebounds in the second half.
• Kai Simpson followed with seven points, one rebound, and one assist.
• Zion Crowe had seven points and led with three rebounds and had one assist.
• The Saints were 42.9% (12-28) from the field, 27.3% (3-11) from the 3-point line, and 100% (2-2) from the free throw line in the second half.
