Men's Basketball Drops to Ashland

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More men's basketball team fell to Ashland on Saturday afternoon (January 11), 83-71. The Saints overall record falls to 10-5 and 5-3 in conference.

• Sophomore Cam McClain (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Trinity) drained a 3-point basket to get things started for the Saints with 18:41 on the clock (3-0).
• With 12:16 to play in the half, first year Jashaun Pouncy (Erlanger, Ky./Cooper) made a layup to put the Saints within four (12-16).
• Redshirt first year Kai Simpson (Lexington, Ky./Frederick Douglass) hit a 3-point basket to tie things up at 20-20 with 9:26 to play in the half.
• Senior Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) made a turn around shot to make it a 31-27 game with 5:06 on the clock.
• Kai Simpson banged in a shot behind the half court line at the buzzer to put the Saints within four at the half (40-44).
• Kai Simpson lef with 13 points and had two rebounds and one assist.
• Junior Mitchell Rylee (Ft. Mitchell, Ky./Covington, Ky.) led the Saints with four rebounds and had six points and one assist.
• Redshirt first year Zion Crowe (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) also led with four rebounds.
• Redshirt first year Jack McCune (Paducah, Ky./McCracken County) had two assists to lead and had nine points.
• The Saints were 53.3% (16-30) from the field, 35.7% (5-14) from the 3-point line, and 50% (3-6) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Jack McCune made a layup to start off the second half with 15:06 on the clock (42-51).
• Jashaun Pouncy drove to the rim for a layup with 10:34 to play to make it a 54-62 game.
• WIth 6:33 to play, Casey George made a layup to put the Saints within nine (60-69).
• Kai Simpson knocked in two free throws with 3:14 remaining in the game (64-75).
• Casey George made two free throws with 20 seconds left for the Saints final points of the game (71-83).
• The Saints would fall to the Eagles 83-71.
• Jack McCune led with 15 points in the second half.
• Mitchell Rylee led with three rebounds and two assists.
• The Saints were 37% (10-27) from the field, 28.6% (4-14) from the 3-point line, and 87.5% (7-8) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Jack McCune led with 24 points and three assists.
• Kai Simpson followed with 17 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
• Mitchell Rylee recorded three assists and seven rebounds to lead the team and had nine points.
• The Saints were 45.6% (25-57) from the field, 32.1% (9-28) from the 3-point line, and 71.4% (10-14) from the free throw line.

The Saints return next Thursday (January 16) against Lake Erie in Painesville, Ohio at 7:30 pm ET.
