Baseball Closes Out Season to Miami-Hamilton

(FLORENCE, KY)-Thomas More University's baseball team fell to Miami-Hamilton on Wednesday (May 1), 18-15 to close out their season. The Saints finish their season with an overall record of 14-35 and 7-26 in conference.
How they scored
  • In the bottom of the first inning, first year Sam Bond (St. Leon, Ind./East Central) hit a fielder's choice to score first year Tanner Gray (Williamstown, Ky./Williamstown) (1-0). First year Ty Snyder (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) crushed a ball over the right centerfield fence for a 2-run home run to extend the Saints lead to 3-0.
  • Tanner Gray doubled to down the left field line to send home first year Matt Resing (Independence, Ky./St. Henry) to make it a 4-0 game in the bottom of the second. First year Noah McCarty (Louisville, Ky./Christian Academy) doubled down the right field line to score Tanner Gray and first year Ty Cunningham (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) to put the Saints up 6-0. First year Andrew Myers (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) walked home (7-0). Noah McCarty scored on an error by the third baseman for the final run of the second inning (8-0).
  • The Harriers scored five runs in the top of the third inning, two runs in the top of the fourth (8-7), two runs in the fifth inning, and six runs in the sixth inning (8-15).
  • In the bottom of the sixth, Noah McCarty scored to make it a 8-15 game. First year Drew Edrich (Cleves, Ohio/Elder) hit a hard hit ball to the shortstop for an infield single to send in Sam Bond (10-15). Matt Resing doubled down the right field line to clear the bases to put the Saints within two (13-15). 
  • The Harriers scored two runs in the seventh (13-17). 
  • Ty Cunningham doubled to left center in the bottom of the eighth to send in Matt Resing and Drew Edrich to make it a 15-18 game.
  • Tanner Gray went 3-6 with a triple, a double, one RBI, and scored two runs.
  • Noah McCarty was 3-4 with two doubles, two walks, two RBIS, and scored two runs.

  • First year Nolan Krekler (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) pitched 3.0 innings, allowing five runs with three earned off five hits and struck out two.
  • Sophomore Ian Bierbaum (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) pitched 1.0 innings, allowing two earned runs off three hits.
  • Sophomore Jack Rutz (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) pitched 1.0 innings, allowing two runs with one run earned off three hits.
  • First year Joe Stone (Waynesville, Ohio/Waynesville) pitched 0.1 innings, allowing six earned runs off five hits and struck out one.
