Saints Claim First DII and G-MAC Victory Over Senators

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY) - The Thomas More men's lacrosse team defeated Davis & Elkins by a score of 11 to 3 on Saturday (April, 6th) afternoon. The victory marks the first of the NCAA Division II era for the Saints and the first in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action. The Saints are now 1-8 overall on the season and 1-4 in G-MAC play.

How they scored

  • Davis & Elkins took an early lead of 1-0 in the opening minutes.
  • First year Bryce Collins (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy) tied the game up with an unassisted goal. 
  • Bryce Collins then gave the Saints a lead off an assist from sophomore Spencer Lethbridge (Olmsted Falls, OH / Olmsted Falls) (2-1).
  • Spencer Lethbridge and Bryce Collins each added unassisted goals to extend the Saint lead to 4 to 1.
  • Senior Donahugh Simpson (Spanish Town, Jamaica / St. George's) scored back to back goals with one off an assist from sophomore Graham Houser (Hilliard, OH / St. Charles) as we entered the second half (6-1).
  • Bryce Collins tallied another assist on a goal by Spencer Lethbridge to make it a 7 to 1 game.
  • First year Jackson Goetz (Edgewood, KY / Dixie Heights) picked up his first goal of the day on an assist from Spencer Lethbridge.
  • Davis & Elkins tallied back to back goals to cut into the Saint lead (8-3).
  • Bryce Collins picked up his 4th goal of the game off an assist from Jackson Goetz to make it 9 to 3.
  • Sophomore David Billings (Louisville, KY / Martha Layne Collins) joined the scoring action with a goal off an assist from Spencer Lethbridge.
  • Jackson Goetz added one last unassisted goal to make it an 11 to 3 final.

  • Bryce Collins led the charge with 4 goals on the day to go with an assist.
  • Spencer Lethbridge added 2 goals to go along with 3 assists.
  • Jackson Goetz tallied 2 goals to go along with an assist.
  • Sophomore goalie Trevor Almanza (Cincinnati, OH / Fairfield) tallied 14 saves on his was to earning the victory.

Up Next

Men's lacrosse will return to action on Saturday (April, 13th) when they travel to Erie, PA to take on Mercyhurst. That game is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.
