Softball Splits Series with Kentucky Wesleyan on Senior Day

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY)- Thomas More University's softball team split with Kentucky Wesleyan on senior day. The Saints fell in game one 5-3 and won game two 5-3. The Saints finish the season with an overall record of 15-35 and 9-17 in conference.

How they scored
Game 1: Kentucky Wesleyan 5-3
  • Junior Josie Wefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) homered to center field to put the Saints on the board in the bottom of the second inning (1-0).
  • Kentucky Wesleyan scored two runs in the third and two runs in the sixth inning (1-4).
  • Graduate student Sydney Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) doubled to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning to score Josie Wefer to put the Saints down by two (2-4).
  • Kentucky Wesleyan scored one run in the seventh (2-5).
  • Senior Delaney Kemper (Williamstown, Ky./Williamstown) singled to shallow left center to send in first year Anna Greenwell (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) in the bottom of the seventh (2-5).
Game 2:
  • Kentucky Wesleyan scored one run in the top of the first inning (0-1).
  • In the bottom of the first inning, junior Emily Allphin (New Richmond, Ohio/Milford) doubled to the left centerfield fence to score sophomore Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley), Delaney Kemper, and Anna Greenwell to put the Saints ahead 3-1. Senior Kair Dickerson (Walton, Ky./Ryle) singled to center field to score Emily Allphin to extend the lead to 4-1.
  • Kentucky Wesleyan scored two runs in the sixth inning (4-3).
  • Senior Sarah Caruso (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) singled through the left side to score first year Sophia Pearson (Fort Recovery, Ohio/Fort Recovery).

  • Graduate student Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched pitched 7.0 innings, allowing three runs with two earned off 12 hits and struck out four.
Game 2:
  • Senior Cassidy King (Hubber Heights, Ohio/Wayne) pitched 7.0 innings, allowing three runs with two earned off nine hits and struck out two.
