Saints Swept in Sunday Doubleheader to Tiffin

(TIFFIN, OH)- Thomas More's baseball team dropped both games of a Sunday doubleheader to Tiffin on Sunday (March, 17th) by scores of 10 to 3 and 9 to 5. Thomas More is not 8-10 overall on the season and 1-3 in G-MAC play.


Game 1: Tiffin 10-3 (7 innings)

• First year Sam Bond (St. Leon, IN / East Central) hits an RBI single in the first inning to make it 1-0 Saints.
• Tiffin scores 3 runs in the bottom half of the first to retake the lead.
• Sophomore Jeremy Ward (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) grounds out for an RBI to make it a one run game in the second.
• Tiffin adds 6 more runs to take a 9 to 2 lead in the 3rd.
• Junior Tucker Gray (Williamstown, KY / Williamstown) hits a sacrifice fly to score another Saint run in the 6th.
• Tiffin scores one in the 6th to make it 10 to 3.

Game 2: Tiffin 9-5

• Senior Brady Baldock (Burlington, KY / St. Henry hits an RBI double to score the first run of the game.
• Sam Bond reaches on an error and records an RBI in the 3rd to give the Saints a 2-0 lead.
• Tiffin scores 3 in the 4th to take a lead.
• In the 6th inning, Baldock hits an RBI single and Ward hits a 2 RBI single to retake the Saint lead. (5-3)
• Tiffin scores 5 in the 6th and one in the 7th to win 9 to 5.

Game 1:

• Sophomore Gunner Kalkhoff (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) went 2-2 at the plate with a run scored.
• Graduate student Derek Atwood (Burlington, KY / Conner) went 2-3 at the plate.
• Sam Bond went 1-3 with an RBI at the plate in the game.

Game 2:

• Brady Baldock went 3-4 at the plate with a double, and 2 RBIs.
• Sam Bond went 2-4 with an RBI and 2 doubles in the game.

Game 1:

• Sophomore Jack Perdue (Louisville, KY / Christian Academy) pitched 2.0 innings in the start. He allowed 7 runs and struck out 2.
• Sophomore Tony Spangler (Springboro, OH / Springboro) pitched 0.1 innings and allowed 2 runs.
• First year Ethan Stone (Hamilton, OH / Hamilton) pitched 0.2 innings.
• Sophomore Cody Watkins (Cincinnati, OH / Lakota East) pitched 1.0 innings in the game.
• Junior George Donohoe (Villa Hills, KY / Immaculate Conception) pitched 1.0 innings.
• Sophomore Jack Rutz (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) pitched a 1.0 innings and gave up a run.

Game 2:

• Sophomore Kellen Sandhas (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) pitched 1.0 innings for the Saints in the start.
• First year Jacob Murphy (Greenwood, IN / Center Grover) pitched 4.1 innings in relief. He allowed 4 runs and struck out 4.
• Sophomore Ian Bierbaum (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) pitched 0.2 innings and allowed 2 runs.
• First year Joe Stone (Waynesville, OH / Waynesville) pitched 2.0 innings for the Saints.

The Saints return to action next weekend (March, 23rd) when they host Walsh for a G-MAC four game weekend. First pitch is 12:00 PM.
