Women's Basketball Dominate Tiffin;Smith Scores 1,000th Career Point

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY)-Thomas More University's women's basketball team defeated Tiffin on Saturday afternoon (Feb 3), 82-65. The Saints overall record improves to 14-7 and 10-4 in conference.

• Senior Alex Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) would drain a 3-point basket to start the Saints 8-0 run and to put the team ahead 3-0 with 9:21 on the clock.
• With 6:16 on the clock, senior Kelly Brenner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) hit a 3-point shot to extend the Saints lead to 11-2.
• Alex Smith would knock in two free throws as time expired to put the Saints ahead 21-6 at the end of the one first quarter.
• Senior Mattison Vickers (Covington, Ky./Simon Kenton) banked in a 3-pointer to kick things off in the second quarter with 9:40 to play (24-6).
• Alex Smith made two free throws with 4:54 to play in the half to surpass her 1,000th career point (34-17).
• First year Desiree Tandy (Danville, Ky./Danville) drove to the rim for a layup for the Saints final basket of the quarter with 2:06 on the clock (41-21).
• The Saints would go into the locker room with a 41-24 lead.
• Alex Smith led the team with 14 points and had four rebounds and one assist.
• Sophomore Rylee Turner (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) would lead with five rebounds and five assists and had five points.
• Kelly Brenner tallied eight points and two rebounds.
• The Saints were 44.8% (13-29) from the field, 50% (9-18) from the 3-point line, and 100% (6-6) from the free throw line in the first half.

• First year Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, Ohio/Tri-Village Local Schools) made a 3-point basket to start things off in the second half with 8:51 on the clock to make it a 20 point game (44-24).
• Rylee Turner would drive to the basket for a layup to extend the Saints lead to 56-31 with 5:07 on the clock in the third quarter.
• Mattison Vickers would make the Saints final basket of the third quarter with a 3-point basket to give the team a 66-45 lead going into the final quarter.
• Alex Smith put in a 3-point shot to start of the final quarter with 9:13 to play to put the Saints up 69-45.
• With 6:23 to play, senior Hailie Morgan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) made a layup to make it a 73-50 game.
• Rylee Turner would knock in one free throw to secure the Saints 82-65 win over the Dragons.
• Alex Smith led the team in the second half with 10 points and had one rebound.
• Rylee Turned led with five rebounds and three assists and had five points.
• Morgan Hunt also recorded three assists to lead the team in the second half and had six points and two rebounds.
• Mattison Vicker tallied three assists to also lead the team and had seven points.
• The Saints were 53.8% (14-26) from the field, 50% (7-14) from the 3-point line, and 60% (6-10) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Alex Smith scored her 1,000th career point today and recorded a team high of 24 points and had five rebounds and an assist.
• Rylee Turner was short of a triple double but tallied 10 points and lead the team with nine rebounds and eight assists.
• Kelly Brenner put up 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
• Morgan Hunt recorded nine points, six assists, and two rebounds.
• Mattison Vickers had 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
• The Saints were 49.1% (27-55) from the field, 50% (16-32) from the 3-point line, and 60% (6-10) from the free throw line.

The Saints return to action on Tuesday (Feb 6) against Trevecca Nazarene at 6:30 pm ET in Nashville, Tenn.
