Two Saints Record Hat Tricks in Loss at Tusculum

(GREENEVILLE, TN) – The Thomas More University women's lacrosse team lost to Tusculum on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 25th) by a score of 17 to 9. Thomas More drops to an overall record of 0-4 on the season. 

How they scored
  • Tusculum opened the game with two goals to take the early lead.
  • First year Anna Wells (West Chester, OH / Lakota West) scored her 7th goal on the season off an assist from sophomore Meg Pierani (Bright, IN / Mercy McAuley) (1-2).
  • Meg Pierani found the back of the net for her first goal of the day to even the score (2-2).
  • Senior Madi Carle (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) gave the Saints a lead off an assist from Anna Wells at the start of the second quarter (3-2).
  • Tusculum responded with 5 straight goals to end the half (3-7).
  • Meg Pierani opened the second half with a goal off an assist from first year Alex Nunn (Loveland, OH / Loveland) (4-7).
  • First year Alexis Denman (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) got in on the scoring action with an unassisted goal (5-7).
  • Following another Tusculum goal, Alex Nunn scored off an assist from Madi Carle (6-8).
  • Tusculum opened the fourth quarter with a goal, and Alex Nunn found Anna Wells for her second goal of the day to keep it at a 2 goal game (7-9).
  • Tusculum extended their lead with 3 more goals (7-12).
  • Anna Wells finds Meg Pierani for her third goal of the day (8-12).
  • Tusculum scored four more to make it an 8 goal lead (8-16).
  • Anna Wells scores unassisted for her third goal of the day (9-16).
  • Tusculum scored one more in the closing minutes to make it a 17 to 9 final.
 
  • Anna Wells led the Saints with 5 points on the day which included 3 goals and 2 assists to go with 3 ground balls and 5 draw controls.

The Saints will return to action on Sunday (March 3rd) when they host Alabama Huntsville at Republic Bank Field. That match is set to begin at 12:00 PM.
