Strong Second Half Propels Saints Over Panthers

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's men's basketball team defeated Ohio Dominican on Monday evening (December 16), 58-51. The Saints overall record improves to 7-3 and 3-1 in conference.

• Redshirt first year Jack McCune (Paducah, Ky./McCracken County) drained a 3-point shot with 18:49 to get the Saints on the board (3-2).
• Redshirt first year Zion Crowe (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) drove to the rim for a layup to put the Saints within one with 15:46 to play in the first half (5-6).
• With 9:20 to play in the first half, redshirt first year Kai Simpson (Lexington, Ky./Frederick Douglass) knocked in a 3- point basket to make it a 10-13 game.
• Jack McCune made a jump shot to tie things up with 6:33 to play in the half (18-18).
• First year Jashaun Pouncy (Erlanger, Ky./Cooper) made a layup for the Saints final basket of the first half with 1:13 left on the clock (22-29).
• The Saints would trail 33-22 at the half.
• Kai Simpson led with eight points and had one rebound.
• Jashaun Pouncy tallied two assists, two rebounds, and two block in the first half to lead the team.
• The Saints were 32.1% (9-28) from the field, 23.5% (4-17) from the 3-point line, and shot zero free throws.

• Zion Crowe kicked of the second half for the Saints to make it a 24-33 game with 19:35 on the clock.
• Jack McCune made a 3-point basket to give the Saints the 35-34 lead over the Panthers with 13:46 to play.
• With 10:18 to play, Kai Simpson hit a 3-point shot to extend the Saints lead to 42-36.
• Zion Crowe drove to the rim for a layup with 3:02 on the clock to put the Saints up 53-46.
• Casey George made a free throw for the Saints final point of the game with 36 seconds remaining.
• The Saints secured the 58-51 win over the Panthers.
• Jack McCune led with 12 points in the second half and had three rebound, two steals, and one assist.
• Casey George followed with 10 points, two steals, one rebound. He tallied three assists to lead the team in the second half.
• Junior Mitchell Rylee (Ft. Mitchell, Ky./Covington Catholic) brought down seven rebounds in the second half for a team high.
• Kai Simpson had seven points and for rebounds.
• The Saints were 46.4% (13-28) from the field, 30.8% (4-13) from the 3-point line, and 66.7% (6-9) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Jack McCune led with 17 points and had four rebounds, one assist, and two steals.
• Casey George recorded three assists and three steals for a team high and had 12 points and two rebounds.
• Mitchell Rylee had nine rebounds to lead the team.
• Kai Simpson had 15 points and five rebounds.
• The Saints were 39.3% (22-56) from the field, 26.7% (8-30) from the 3-point line, and 66.7% (6-9) from the free throw line. 

The Saints return on Thursday (December 19) against McKendree at 3:00 pm in the Connor Convocation Center.
