Saints Drop to Panthers in Season Opener

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's men's basketball team fell to Drury on Friday evening (November 8), 63-54. The Saints overall record falls to 0-1.

First Half
  • Senior Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) drained a 3-point basket to put the Saints on the board 3-2 with 17:05 on the clock. 
  • With 11:43 to play in the first half, senior Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) drove to the basket and laid the ball in to tie things up at 9-9.
  • Sophomore Cam McClain (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Trinity) hit a 3-point shot to put the Saints within two with 5:21 in the half (14-16).
  • Junior Mitchell Rylee (Ft. Mitchell, Ky./Covington Catholic) knocked in two free throws to end the half (24-29).
  • Cam McClain led the team with nine points and had one rebound.
  • Mitchell Rylee tallied seven rebounds and two assists to lead the Saints in the first half and had four points.
  • Wyatt Vieth also recorded two assists to lead the team and had seven points and one rebound.
  • The Saints were 32% from the field (8-25), 21.4% (3-14) from the 3-point line, and 85.7% (6-7) from the free throw line in the first half.
Second Half
  • Cam McClain kicked things off in the second half by making a 3-point shot to put the Saints within four with 19:12 to play (28-32).
  • Mitchell Rylee made two free throws with 9:12 to play to make it a 39-51 game.
  • Wyatt Vieth laid in a layup to make it a five point game with 3:27 to play (54-59).
  • The Saints fell 54-63 to the Panthers.
  • Cam McClain led the Saints in the second half with 10 points.
  • Mitchell Rylee tallied six rebounds and two assists to lead the Saints and had two points.
