Women's Soccer Defeats Kentucky Wesleyan in Season Finale

(OWENSBORO, Ky.)-Thomas More University's women's soccer team defeated Kentucky Wesleyan on Wednesday evening (November 6), 5-3. The Saints finished their season with an overall record of 6-8-3 and 3-8-3 in conference.

• Sophomore Andjela Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Belgrade) scored in the fourth minute to put the Saints on top 1-0.
• Kentucky Wesleyan scored back to back goals in the 10th and 14th minute to give the Panthers the lead (2-1).
• In the 24th minute, first year Ivy Hoffman (Taylor Mill, Ky./Holy Crossed) found the back net to equalize the game at 2-2 with an assist from Andjela Popovic.
• Senior Amy Bos (Nijmegen, Netherlands/Mondial College Nijmegen) scored in the 29th minute, off an assist by Andjela Popovic and junior Lauren Laake (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mt. Notre Dame) to give the Saints the 3-2 lead.
• Andjela Popovic scored her second goal of the night in the 51st minute off an assist by Ivy Hoffman to make it a 4-2 game.
• Kenntucky Wesleyan scored in the 77th minute to put the Panthers within one goal (4-3).
• Andjela Popovic scored her first career hat trick in the 89th minute to secure the Saints 5-3 win.

• Ivy Hoffman had four shots with two on goal. She recorded one goal and one assist.
• Andjela Popovic recorded her first career hat trick with three goals and added two assists. Popovic tallied three shots that all found the back of the net.
• First year Riley Rolfert (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) had one shot on goal.
• Amy Bos had three shots with two on goal and had one goal.
• Senior Lotte Derksen (Didam, Netherlands/Liemers College) recorded one shot.

The Saints close out their season tonight and will return next fall.
