(Tiffin, OH)- Thomas More University's men's soccer team took on the #2 Seeded Findlay Oilers in the semifinal round of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournement on Thursday (November, 14th). Following the conclusion of regulation and two overtime periods, the Oilers advance to the finals by the way of penalty kicks. Thomas More finishes the season with an overall record of 8-9-3.
- Findlay got things started with a goal in the 9th minute to take the early 1-0 lead.
- Findlay added to their lead in the 25th minute to make it a 2-2 lead.
- Thomas More battled back as they scored in the 29th minute thanks to a sophomore Mauricio Medina (La Florida, Chile / Colegio Semper Altius) goal off the assists from redshirt junior Matthaus Buechner (Goshen, OH / Goshen) and graduate student Tim Stolz (Donaueschingen, Germany / Fuerstenberg).
- Thomas More would then tie it up right before halftime thanks to a sophomore Ramzi Termanini (Damascus, Syria / Fort Pierce Central) goal in the 42nd minute.
- In the 62nd minute, sophomore Andres Ortiz (Toronto, Canada / Chaminade) broke the tie and gave TMU their first lead of the day with a goal off an assist from senior Arkin Ulusoy (Heidelberg, Germanu / Julius Springer).
- In the 81st minute, Findlay would tie it back up at 3 with a goal.
- Findlay would take the lead 2 minutes later with a goal to make it a 4-3 game with 7 minutes left.
- In the 87th minute, senior Finn Battenstein (Düsseldorf, Germany / Martin Luther King Gesamtschule) came thru for the Saints and blocked a kick from the goalie that bounced into the net to make it a 4 to 4 game.
- Following two 10 minute OT periods, we went to PKs with the score still tied 4-4.
- Findlay advance via PKs 9 to 8.
- Eight different Saints converted on penalty kicks.
- Four different Saints tallied goals in the contest.
- Junior goalie Emilio Benmergui Rodriquez (Valencia, Spain / Cumbres School) recorded 7 saves in the match.

Thomas More concludes the 2024 season and will return to the field in the fall of 2025.
