Women's Basketball Wins Big Over Lake Erie on the Road

Box Score (PAINESVILLE, OH)- Thomas More University women's basketball team traveled to face-off with Lake Erie on Saturday (Jan. 20) afternoon. The Saints defeated Lake Erie by a score of 74 to 48. Thomas More improves to an overall record of 11-7 and a Great Midwest Athletic Conference record of 7-4.

• Senior Maggie Jones (Piner, KY / Simon Kenton) got the scoring started with a three pointer off an assist from senior Alex Smith (Cincinnati, OH /Mercy McAuley) (3-0).
• Midway thru the opening quarter sophomore Rylee Turner (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) makes a layup to give the Saints back the lead (7-5).
• Senior Mattison Vickers (Covington, Ky./Simon Kenton) scores six straight points for the Saints to give the Saints a four point lead after the opening quarter (13-9).
• First year Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, OH / Tri-Village) picked up the first points in the second quarter for the Saints with a layup off an assist from junior Callie Hunt (Trenton, OH / Edgewood) (15-9).
• Callie Hunt drills a three pointer and makes a layup to extend the Saint lead to double figures (20-9).
• First year Rylee Leonard (Sardinia, OH / Eastern Brown) knocks down a three pointer and a layup to make it an 18 point game (29-11).
• Thomas More hits three 3-pointers from Mattison Vickers, Maggie Jones and senior Kelly Brenner (Cincinnati, OH / Roger Bacon) to make it 23 point lead (38-15).
• Senior Hailie Morgan (Cincinnati, OH / Seton) makes a layup to make the score 40-15 at halftime.
• Maggie Jones led the Saints with 10 points at the half.
• Thomas More shot 17-29 (58.6%) from the field and 6-15 (40%) from beyond the three point line.

• Kelly Brenner got the Saints going in the second half with a three pointer (43-17).
• Brenner kept the hot start going with two more three pointers to extend the Thomas More lead (49-19).
• Brenner hit her fourth three pointer of the quarter to make it a 33 point lead (54-21).
• Callie Hunt drains a three pointer off an assist from Rylee Turner in the closing minutes of the quarter (61-27).
• A layup from Hailie Morgan was the first Saint points of the final quarter (63-33).
• First Year Desiree Tandy (Danville, KY / Danville) scored a bucket off a pass from Maggie Jones with 5:48 to go (69-35).
• Kelly Brenner found Rylee Leonard for a three pointer for the Saints (72-40).
• First year Izzy Rotert (Harrison, OH / Mercy McAuley) scored her first collegiate points on a layup with 1:12 to go (74-45).
• Thomas More wins 74 to 48.
• Thomas More shot 31-55 from the field (56.4%) and 12-28 (42.9%) from beyond the three point line.

• Kelly Brenner led the Saints with 15 points in the game behind five three pointers. She also has 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
• Maggie Jones scored 10 points and recorded a team high 5 assists in the contest.
• Mattison Vickers scored 13 points and tallied a team high 7 rebounds in the contest.
• Rylee Leonard went a perfect 4-4 from the field for 10 points.
