Saints Drop Low Scoring Affair To Freed-Hardeman

(BOWLING GREEN, Ky.) – The Thomas More University baseball team lost Thursday night to the Freed-Hardeman University Lions, 2-0 in the Mid-South Conference tournament. They fall to 32-18 overall this season.

• Neither team had a baserunner until the Lions got a hit in the bottom of the third inning.
• The Lions would score in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out single to give them a 1-0 lead.
• They would score their final run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh.

• AJ Enginger (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) and Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Randall K. Cooper) were both hit by a pitch.
• Jacob Caruso (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) and Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) both reached by error.

• Mychal Grogan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) threw 7.1 innings, allowing eight hits and two runs while striking out eight Lions.
• Justin Bierbaum (Bridgetown, Ohio/La Salle) got the final two outs of the eighth inning, striking out one of the two hitters he faced.

 

The Saints are back on the field tomorrow afternoon against the No. 1 seed University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Patriots at 1:00 p.m. ET. The Patriots won two of three against the Saints earlier this season.
