Men's Volleyball Falters In Evening Tilt Against Warner

(LAKE WALES, Fla.) – The Thomas More University men's volleyball team fell to Warner University Wednesday night, 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-21). Thomas More drops to 9-8 overall this season.


 
  • The Royals and Saints were all square at 17-17 in set one.
  • Caleb Lipscomb (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills/St. Francis Brooklyn College) had three kills at this point while Mason Collver (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) had two.
  • Lipscomb also had a pair of block assists, while Collver had one.
  • The Saints would grab two of the next three points to hold a 19-18 lead.
  • Unfortunately for Thomas More, the Royals came alive and went on a 5-0 run to snatch the momentum and eventually the set 25-20.
  • Warner ran out to a commanding 15-7 lead in the second set.
  • The Saints would lose the set 25-15.
  • Lipscomb had three kills in the set, while Cameron Ware (Pearland, Texas/Turner/Cincinnati Christian University) had two.
  • The final set saw Thomas More go up 8-5 early on.
  • Four different Saints had at least one kill to help give them the advantage.
  • The set would eventually be even at 19-19.
  • A Royal error gave the Saints a 20-19 lead.
  • However, Warner shut the door on Thomas More with a 6-1 flurry to end the set at 25-21 and the match 3-0.

 
  • Lipscomb had 10 kills, his second match this season in double-digits.
  • He also had five total blocks (one solo, four assisted), his sixth match this season with five or more blocks.
  • Lipscomb now has 64 total blocks this season, which is the new program record for a single season.
  • Conner Young (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) had 18 assists.
  • Jonathan Litzler (Edgewood, Ky./St. Henry) had a match-high 12 digs, his 10th match this season with 11 or more.
  • The Saints had 10 block assists, their eighth match this season with double-digit block assists.

 

Thomas More returns to the floor for their final match in Florida tomorrow evening at 5:00 p.m. against the Webber International University Warriors.
