Women's Tennis Falls on the Road to #8 Cumberlands (Ky.)

(WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.)-Thomas More University women's tennis team was defeated by #8 Cumberlands (Ky.) on Monday afternoon (March 20) 6-1. The Saints overall record falls to 3-7 and 0-4 in conference.

• First year Heidi Kane (Gilford, Ind./East Central) and junior Cassie Saner (Independence, Ky. Simon Kenton) fell to Meiri Okuwaki and Mikaeka Fros 6-0.
• Senior Kimberly Sabga (Maraval, Trinidad and Tobago International School of Port of Spain) and sophomore Noelia Martinez Garcia (Santander, Spain/IES Las Llamas) were defeated 6-0 to Marina Nagai and Fan Shiau.
• First year Alexis Covington (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) and sophomore Sydney Johnson (Independence, Ky./St. Henry) came up short to Tessa Gray and Johanna Beckmann 6-3.

• Alexis Covington was defeated 6-1 and 6-2 by Meiri Okuwaki.
• Noelia Martinez Garcia fell to Laura Prieto 6-2 and 6-2.
• Cassie Saner won 7-5 then by forfeit over Marina Nagai.
• Heidi Kane fell by the scores of 6-0 and 6-1 to Fan Shiau.
• Kimberly Sabga came up short to Catherine Rae 6-4 and 6-1.
• Sydney Johnson was defeated 6-1 and 6-0 to Mikaela Fros.

The Saints return to the court on Friday (March 24) against Pikeville at 4:00 pm ET in Pikeville, Ky.
