Cumberland Defeats Women's Tennis 6-1

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University women's tennis team fell to Cumberland (Tenn.) on Saturday evening (March 18) 6-1. The Saints overall record falls to 3-6 and 0-3 in conference.

• First year Heidi Kane (Gilford, Ind./East Central) and junior Cassie Saner (Independence, Ky. Simon Kenton) fell to Jessica Hernandez and Maria Arbelaez 6-3.
• Senior Kimberly Sabga (Maraval, Trinidad and Tobago International School of Port of Spain) and sophomore Noelia Martinez Garcia (Santander, Spain/IES Las Llamas) were defeated by Lara Zugasti and Elina Sungatullina 6-1.
• First year Alexis Covington (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) and sophomore Sydney Johnson (Independence, Ky./St. Henry)  won 7-5 over Jessica Mendez and Carlee Teague.

• Alexis Covington fell to Jessica Hernandez 4-6 and 6-7 (4).
• Noelia Martinez Garcia came up short with the scores 3-6, 7-5, and 5-7 to Maria Arbelaez.
• Cassie Saner was defeated by Elina Sungatullina 2-6 and 3-6.
• Heidi Kane won 6-1 and 6-2 over Lara Zugasti.
• Kimberly Sabga fell to Kaede Hatano 5-7 and 2-6.
• Sydney Johnson was defeated by Alexandra Leisibach 1-6 and 2-6.

The Saints return to action on Monday (March 20) at 1:00 pm at #8 Cumberlands (Ky.) in Williamsburg, Ky.
