Women's Volleyball Comes up Short in Two Five Game Thrillers to Spring Arbor and Taylor

(UPLAND, Ind.)-Thomas More University women's volleyball team took their first two losses of the season today to Spring Arbor (3-2) and Taylor (3-2). The Saints overall record falls to 2-2.

Game 1: Spring Arbor 3-2

  • Saints fell to Spring Arbor 3-2 with the scores of 22-23, 25-16, 26-24, 23-25, and 11-15.

Game 2: Taylor 3-2

  • The Saints fell to Taylor with the scores of 23-25, 25-23, 27-25, 22-25, and 15-17.

Game 1: Spring Arbor 3-2

  • Senior Sawyer Lorentz (Dover, Ohio/Dover) led the Saints with 16 kills and seven total blocks.
  • Sophomore Sydney Hilderbran (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West) followed with 13 kills and four total blocks. 
  • Senior Ally Albrinck (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) recorded 12 kills and four blocks.
  • First year Ebony Gomez (Venezuela/Colegio Salesiano San Luis) tallied 12 kills and three total blocks.
  • Sophomore Sam McClanahan (Georgetown, Ky./Scott) led the Saints with 49 assists and had 12 digs.
  • Sophomore Asis Ferrando (Masone, Italy/Barletti Ovada) had 33 digs to lead the Saints and had four service aces. 
  • Sophomore Ruthie Neu (Greenwood, Ind./Roncalli) and sophomore Kate Woelfel (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) both had 12 digs. 

Game 2: Taylor 3-2

  • Albrinck led the way for the Saints with 16 kills and tallied three total blocks. 
  • Lorentz and first year Emily Acito (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) both followed with 14 kills each. 
  • McClanahan tallied 53 assists to lead the Saints. 
  • Ferrando had 29 digs to lead the team.
  • Neu followed with 15 digs and junior Kaitlyn Stivers (Louisville, Ky./Eastern) had 13.

The Saints return to the court for their home opener on Tuesday (August 31) against Ohio Dominican at 6:00 pm ET in the Connor Convocation Center.
