Box Score (CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.)-#8 Thomas More University men's basketball team closed out their regular season on Saturday (Feb. 19) with a 76-66 win over Campbellsville (Ky.). The Saints overall record improves to 25-3 and 19-2 in conference.
- First year transfer Jacob Jones (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) kicked things off for the Saints with a jump shot to tie the game up at 2-2 with 18:03 on the clock.
- First year Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) would drain a 3-point shot to give the Saints the lead once again with 7:29 to play in the first half (23-20).
- Sophomore Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) made the final basket of the first half with a jump shot to give the Saints a 37-25 lead going into the locker room at the half.
- Jones would lead the Saints in the first half with 12 points and had two rebounds and one assist.
- Jolly brought down nine rebounds to lead the team and had eight points and one assist.
- Graduate student Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) would record four assists to lead the Saints and had four rebounds and three points.
- Redshirt junior Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) had seven points, one rebound, and one assist.
- The Saints were 53.6% (15-28) from the field, 30% (3-10) from the 3-point line, and 66.7% (4-6) from the free throw line in the first half.
- Batte would make a jump shot for the Saints first basket of the second half to extend the Saints lead to 39-25 with 19:19 to play.
- With 13:30 on the clock, Jones would drive to the basket for a layup to put the Saints up 50-40.
- Sophomore Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) would make a layup with 5:37 to play to make it a 64-59 game.
- Jones would drive to the rim for the Saints final basket of the game and to secure the win over the Tigers.
- The Saints defeated the Tigers 76-66.
- Batte led the team with 21 points and nine rebounds in the second half and tallied one assist in the second half.
- Jones followed with eight points and one assist.
- Jolly recorded two assists to lead the team.
- The Saints were 45.5% (15-33) from the field, 22.2% (2-9) from the 3-point line, and 87.5% (7-8) from the free throw line in the second half.
- Batte had a double to lead the team with 28 points and had 10 rebounds and two assists.
- Jones followed with 20 points, two rebounds, and two assists.
- Jolly also recorded a double with 10 points and two assists and had 12 rebounds to lead the team.
- Bertsch recorded five assists to lead the team and had five rebounds and six points.
- The Saints were 49.2% (30-61) from the field, 26.3% (5-19) from the 3-point line, and 78.6% (11-14) from the free throw line.
The Saints start up postseason play next Saturday (Feb. 26) in the MSC Tournament at 12:30 pm ET against TBD in Bowling Green, Ky.
