#8 Men's Basketball Win Fifth Straight Over #12 Georgetown (Ky.)

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)- #8 Thomas More University men's basketball team defeated #12 Georgetown (Ky.) on Thursday evening (Feb. 17), 85-59. The Saints overall record improves to 24-3 and 18-2 in the conference.

  • Graduate student Luke Rudy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) drained the Saints first basket of the night with his first of seven 3-point shots he made of the night to put the Saints on the board (3-2).
  • Sophomore Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) would make a layup with 10:25 on the clock to extend the saints lead to 24-9.
  • With 5:15 on the clock, sophomore Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) drove to the basket for a layup to make it a 34-15 game.
  • Graduate Student Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) made the Saints final basket of the first half with one free throw to go into the locker room with a 43-20 lead. 
  • Jolly led the Saints with 13 points and had two assists and one rebound.
  • Rudy followed with 12 points and led the Saints with four rebounds.
  • Redshirt junior Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) led the team with four rebounds and four assists in the first half.
  • Pack also recorded four rebounds to lead the Saints and had nine points.
  • The Saints wre 66.6% (16-29) from the field, 50% (7-14), and 66.7% (4-6) from the free throw line in the first half.

  • Batte made a jump shot to kick off the scoring for the Saints in the second half with 19:45 on the clock (45-20).
  • Bertsch made a 3-point shot with 11:35 on the clock to make it a 56-31 game. 
  • With 5:43 on the clock, Rudy would make a 3-point shot to extend the Saints lead to 76-44.
  • Sophomore Riley Haubner (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) would make the teams final basket of the game to secure the Saints win.
  • The Saints defeated Georgetown, 85-59.
  • First year transfer Jacob Jones (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) would lead the Saints with 10 points and three assists in the second half.
  • Rudy followed with nine points.
  • Jolly led the Saints with three rebounds.
  • The Saints were 62.5% (15-24) from the field, 66.7% (8-12) from the 3-point line, and 66.7% (4-6) from the free throw line in the second half.

  • Rudy led the Saints with 21 points making seven 3-point shots, and had four rebounds and three assists.
  • Pack followed with 15 points and had four rebounds and two assists.
  • Jolly tallied 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists,
  • Batte recorded six rebounds and five assists to lead the team and had eight points.
  • Jones had five assists to lead the Saints and 12 points.
  • The Saints were 58.5% (31-53) from the field, 57.7% (15-26) from the 3-point line, and 66.7% (8-12) from the free throw line.

The Saints return to the court for their final regular season game against Campbellsville (Ky.) on Saturday (Feb. 19) at 4:00 pm ET.
