(WILBERFORCE, Ohio) – The Thomas More University women's basketball team cruised to victory Tuesday evening at Wilberforce University, 92-41. They are now 6-0 this season and 3-0 in the Mid-South Conference.
- The Saints got right to work, going on a 10-0 run to start off the game. Rachel Martin had five points during the sequence.
- Thomas More would pour it on in the first quarter, taking a 24-2 lead into the second.
- They took advantage of five Bulldog fouls and went 8-8 from the free-throw line.
- This is the first time the Saints have held a team to two points in a quarter since Nov. 18, 2021, when they held Life University to two points in the second quarter.
- Their lead would continue to grow in the second quarter, taking a 49-15 advantage into the break.
- Kelly Brenner knocked down a trio of threes in the quarter to lead the Saints with nine points.
- The Saints would shoot 45.5% from the field in the third quarter (5-11) and knock down 10 of 12 free throws. Zoie Barth and Rylee Turner both had five points in the third.
- Thomas More would lead by as many as 52 in the fourth quarter as they made their way to the finish line shooting 7-18 in the fourth and Jenna Lillard leading the way with seven points.
- This is the least amount of points given up by the Saints since Jan. 29, 2022, where they allowed 37 against Life University on the road.
- This is their largest margin of victory since beating Shawnee State 106-51 at home on Feb. 1, 2022.
- Three Saints ended in double-figures, with Barth leading the team with 14 points, her third double-digit scoring game of the season.
- Alex Smith had 11 points, her fourth straight double-digit scoring performance, while Maggie Jones (10) had her second double-digit performance of the season. Jones also had a game-high three assists.
- Lillard was the lone player in the contest to grab double-digit rebounds, with 10.
- Thomas More knocked down 26 free throws in the contest, their most since making 34 against Saint Xavier (Ill.) on Nov. 27, 2021.
Thomas More returns to action on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m., where they play Southeastern University in their first game of the 21st Annual Julie Costello Memorial Classic inside the Connor Convocation Center.
