(GREENWOOD, Ind.) – The College Sports Communicators, formerly known as CoSIDA, announced their 2022 football Academic All-District Teams Tuesday afternoon and the Saints had one athlete recognized in junior
Trey Brausch. Athletes from NCAA Division I, II, and III as well as the NAIA are recognized for this honor.
To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a sophomore both academically and athletically, participated in at least 50% of their teams' games at their listed position, been at their current institution for one full academic year, have at least a 3.50 grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale, and be a starter or important reserve. Each sport has a limited number of athletes that may be nominated, with football's limit being eight.
Brausch is a Secondary Education – Social Studies major from Alexandria, Kentucky. He holds a 3.53 cumulative GPA and was named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete in September for the second year in a row. He was also named Academic All-MSC for the third time in his career.
This season on the field, Trey started all 11 games for the Saints as a linebacker. He was fifth on the team in total tackles with 42 and was tied for third on the team in solo tackles with 32. In five of the Saints 11 games, Brausch had five or more tackles. His season-high came at home against Cumberland University on Oct. 15, where he led the team with seven tackles (four solo, three assisted). This season also saw three tackles for loss, one pass break up, and one fumble recovery for Brausch.
He advances to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with the announcement of those teams coming out at Noon ET on December 20th.
