#13 Men's Basketball Pick up 78-66 Conference Win Over Campbellsville

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-#13 Thomas More University men's basketball team defeated Campbellsville on Thursday evening (Jan. 6), 78-66. The Saints overall record improves to 13-2 and 7-1 in conference. 

  • Sophomore Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) made a jump shot at the 19:38 time mark to kick the scoring off for the Saints (2-0) and the team's 8-0 run over the Tigers.
  • Graduate Student Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) drove to the rim for a basket to extend the Saints lead to 22-11 with 11:36 to play in the first half.
  • With 4:07 to play in the half, graduate student Luke Rudy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) drained a 3-pointer to put the Saints up 33-26.
  • First year Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington) would make a layup for the Saints final basket of the half.
  • The Saint would go into the locker room with 39-35 lead over the Tigers.
  • Pack led the Saints across the leader board with eight points, four rebounds, and two assists in the first half.
  • Batte would also lead the team with two assists and had three rebounds and six points.
  • Bertsch would also the lead the Saints defensively with four rebounds and had five points.
  • The Saints were 47.1% (16-34) from the field, 30.8% (4-13) from the 3-point line, and 100% (3-3) from the free throw line in the first half.

  • Redshirt junior Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) started the half off with a jump shot with 19:06 to play in the game (41-35).
  • Pack drove to the basket for a dunk with 10:42 to play to extend the Saints lead to 61-42.
  • With 6:43 to play in the game, first year Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) drained a 3-point jump shot to put the Saints up by 12 (72-50).
  • George secured the Saints win by making two free throws to defeat the Tigers, 88-66.
  • Batte led the Saints with 15 points and had three rebounds in the second half.
  • Bertsch followed with seven points and had one rebound.
  • Pack and sophomore Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) both tallied five rebounds to lead the Saints in the second half. 
  • Junior Logan Swackhammer (Chillicothe, Ohio/Unioto) recorded three assists to lead the Saints. 
  • The Saints were 53.8% (14-26) from the field, 22.2% (2-9) from the 3-point line, and 100% (9-9) from the free throw line in the second half.

  • Batte led the Saints with 21 points and had six rebounds and two assists.
  • Bertsch followed with 12 points and five rebounds.
  • Pack led the team defensively with nine rebounds and had 14 points and two assists.
  • Swackhammer recorded three assists to lead the Saints.
  • Jolly had seven points, seven rebounds, and one assist. 
  • The Saints were 50% (30-60) from the field, 27.3% (6-22) from the 3-point line, and 100% (12-12) from the free throw line.
